The annual Global Gaming Expo (G2E) this time around is likely to focus more on issues of appropriate use of technology for the sustenance of the gaming industry more than on the product launches. Seminars and keynote addresses by the veterans of the gaming industry are likely to provide in-depth analysis of the health of the gaming industry and how to take it forward from the present challenges. Since no expo would be complete without the novel product launches, gaming enthusiasts can obviously look forward to the unveiling of some new games over the next three days at the Sands Expo Centre, Las Vegas.
New Age Genres of Gaming
The unanimous thumps down to sports betting by most States, has made the resourceful gaming industry introduce daily fantasy sports as an alternate form of gaming. Projected as more of skill based games, the fantasy games are viewed now both as an opportunity as well as a threat to original gambling. Giant leap in technology over different platforms, which is considered as a great positive to sustain the industry from brink are likely to take centre stage at the G2E this year, with special emphasis on digital and social gaming.
The Schedule of Addressers
G2E 2015 addressers schedule differ vastly from the one made last year. While the main speakers of the G2E last year were the top promoters of casinos, this time around the podium is being readied for the President of the American Gaming Association (AGA) and the debates among CEOs of the top entertainment corporations-Caesars Entertainment, Scientific Games Corporation and Rush Street Gaming-to address the issues, which are likely to chart the future of the industry. To round up the keynote address is the CEO of Unikrn who is scheduled to address the gathering on the final day of the expo.
The List of Awardees
As per the cherished tradition being followed at the expo, this year also the G2E would see prominent personalities who strive for the betterment of the gaming industry decorated appropriately. Three new inductees to the Hall of Fame have been finalised among different sections of the casino industry. The three new inductees to the Hall of Fame this year are Larry Woolf, Victor Salerno and Lynn Valbuena.
Victor Salerno who is currently at the helm of William Hill US is being inducted in to the Hall of Fame for his pioneering role in wagering on telephone. Lynn Valbuena’s contribution to tribal gaming and her long and distinguished services at the National Indian Gaming Association are being officially recognised by inducting her in to the Hall of Fame. Larry Woolf the third member to be added to the Hall of Fame this year has been in the forefront of turning the casinos as commercial centres of profit. Two others who are to be decorated in the legends category at the G2E event include the popular comedian Jerry Lewis and H.C. Rowe, the casino entertainment executive.
